About Evelien Baas

Evelien BaasEvelien Baas was born in Friesland in the Netherlands.

Coming to New Zealand

Coming to New Zealand in 1992, she participated in research at Lincoln University. After 7 months she returned to the Netherlands to finish her MSc in Animal Husbandry at Wageningen University & Research Centre. In 1994 she graduated and in 2000 she moved to back to New Zealand.

Practical work as well as theory

In 2003 Evelien and her partner invested in a partneship in a 1000 cow dairy farm in Canterbury, where she was responsible for the bookkeeping, reporting to the partners and payroll for 7 staff for several years. At the same time she started rearing calves on their lifestyle block, nowadays they arrive weaned. Rearing beef is a great way to keep up to date with trends in farming, the current climate (weather and prices) and other farming events. With a background in both practical farming and software sales and support, Evelien can be counted upon to understand your needs and provide to the point training and advice.

Training

After years of training people both one-on-one and in groups Evelien has developed a relaxed and accessible training style. She enjoys one-on-one training and is looking to expand this service again now she is no longer bound to her desk providing support.

Evelien provides financial administration/payroll services for a consultancy business and several farming clients and would like to extend this service to other farming clients.

Established in 2001

The business started up in 2001 under the name CompuSense providing computer training services to farmers and selling, setting up and supporting farm software in Canterbury, with the occasional venture to South Island and the West Coast.

The software has evolved over time, with new products added and other disappearing over time, but the clients have remained the core of the business.

Since 2001 Evelien has been providing training, sales and support for software products (Casmanager Rural/Business FarmKeeper, Endeavour, PastureCoach, ACE payroll, MYOB) and selling electronic farm tools, such as electronic rising plate meters, fault finders, Batt-Latch automatic gate openers, etc. In 2005 she became an Accredited trainer for CRS software (Cashmanager Rural). As the NZ distributor for FarmKeeper software since 2006 she became the FarmKeeper Trainer/Technical Support Analyst for LIC in 2007 when they bought the company, a role continued part-time to this day.

Since July 2011 she is an MYOB Certified Consultant as well.
